Manyavar's letters run one size lower than most Indian menswear: their S is a 36, where brands like Fabindia call a 38 an S. If you usually buy M, there is a real chance you are an L at Manyavar. Match your chest in centimetres below before ordering.

Chest: around the fullest part, tape under the armpits and parallel to the floor. Breathe normally, do not puff up.
Shoulder: across the back, from one shoulder bone to the other.
Waist: around where your trouser waistband sits, one finger under the tape.
Kurta and sherwani sizes are not interchangeable even at the same chest, because the sherwani's waist and hip are cut closer. Check each chart separately.

Yes. Manyavar maps S to 36, M to 38, L to 40, XL to 42 and XXL to 44. That is one size lower than many Indian brands, where S is a 38, so match on chest centimetres rather than the letter.
Not by default. Size by the chart, but check the waist row: Manyavar cuts the sherwani with only about 7 cm between chest and waist. If your waist is proportionally large, choose the size that fits your waist.
Some product pages show garment measurements, which include roughly 11 to 13 cm of wearing ease at the chest. This page shows body measurements. Compare your body to a body chart only.
A 40 inch chest is about 101.5 cm, which falls in Manyavar's L (40) for kurtas. For a sherwani, the same chest is also an L, but confirm your waist fits within roughly 91.5 to 98 cm.
